About the Event
Tuesday, September 26, 2023, 7:00-7:45 p.m. Featured Guest: Liza Hyatt
In the fall of 2023, Liza Hyatt’s fourth book of poems, Wayfaring, will be published by Fernwood Press. She is an art therapist and mental health counselor. When not helping people heal from the impacts of our crazy world, she enjoys hiking, playing her harp, visiting with her adult daughter, and being at home with her goofy man, and their equally goofy black lab rescue dog. She was the host of the Poets Laureate of Lawrence monthly poetry series for Arts for Lawrence from 2011 to 2022.
7:45-9 p.m. Open Mic reading
Directions: Take E. 56th Street to Post Road. Go North on Post and West on Otis. Poetry readings happen on the 2nd Floor of the Theater. We are next door to The Sterret Center. Please enter at the back side entrance, closest to the musical swings. The doors generally open by 6:45 p.m. or soon thereafter. There is an elevator inside or feel free to take the stairs. The corner meeting room overlooks the musical swings. A parking lot is to the front of the Theater or at the back off of Post Road.
Feel free to bring a capped drink and snacks. Upon departure for the night, we'll need to leave the room in good order and turn out the lights. The doors to the theater will lock behind us. If anyone plans to arrive later than 7:30 p.m., please let me or someone who plans to attend know so that the door can be opened from the inside for you. The door will lock behind us at the close of the meeting.
