About the Event

Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 7:00 - 7:45 p.m.  Featured Guest:  Rosaleen Crowley

Rosaleen Crowley, A.A. Higher Diploma on Education.  ALCM (Speech and Drama) Gold Medal, Speaking of Verse and Prose (LAMDA) was born and educated in Cork, Ireland.  A graduate of University College Cork, she is a Poet, Artist, and Educator.  Rosaleen now lives and works in Zionsville, Indiana USA and Youghal, Co Cork, Ireland.  She is owner of Roscro and Co, LLC and Co-Founder of Carmel Creative Writers, Inc.  She is a Board Member of Brick Street Poetry, Inc.

Rosaleen plans to read from her latest book Of Land and Poetry:  Ireland

This is Rosaleen’s second compilation of poems.  Of Land and Poetry: Ireland pays homage to the land of Rosaleen’s birth, Ireland.

These poems about memory, nature, distance and culture will inspire you to ask yourself about identity, belonging and cultural differences. Some poems were written in Ireland, others were written from a distance. It is this experience of living on two continents that shapes Rosaleen’s view of the world.

7:45-9 p.m. Open Mic reading

Directions: Take E. 56th Street to Post Road.  Go North on Post and West on Otis.  Poetry readings happen on the 2nd Floor of the Theater.  We are next door to The Sterret Center.  Please enter at the back side entrance, closest to the musical swings.  The doors generally open by 6:45 p.m. or soon thereafter.  There is an elevator inside or feel free to take the stairs.  The corner meeting room overlooks the musical swings.  A parking lot is to the front of the Theater or at the back off of Post Road.

Feel free to bring a capped drink and snacks.  Upon departure for the night, we'll need to leave the room in good order and turn out the lights.  The doors to the theater will lock behind us.  If anyone plans to arrive later than 7:30 p.m., please let me or someone who plans to attend know so that the door can be opened from the inside for you.  The door will lock behind us at the close of the meeting.
