About the Event
Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. Featured Guest: Mary Sexson  Mary Sexson is the author of the newly released Her Addiction An Empty Place at the Table (Finishing Line Press). Her other books include the award-winning 103 in the Light, Selected Poems 1996-2000 (Restoration Press), and she is co-author of Company of Women, New and Selected Poems (Chatter House Press). She also co-authored the upcoming book, Marriage Maps and Driven Destinies, to be published by Chatter House Press in the Fall of 2023. Sexson’s poetry has appeared in Tipton Poetry Journal, Flying Island, New Verse News, The Indianapolis Review, Anti-Heroin Chic, Last Stanza Poetry Journal, and Of Rust and Glass, among others. Mary’s poetry has been a part of several public poetry projects, including Shared Spaces/Shared Voices, two Arts Kaleidoscope projects that collaborated with Gallery 308 in Muncie, Indiana, and two Spirit and Place projects with the Indiana Writers Center. Sexson’s work is part of the Inverse Poetry Archives for Hoosier Poets. One of her poems is in the Polaris Trilogy, part of the Lunar Codex Project heading for the moon in 2024. Find her at masexson.wordpress.com, and at Poetry Sisters on Facebook. 7:45-9 p.m. Open Mic reading  Directions: Take E. 56th Street to Post Road. Go North on Post and West on Otis. Poetry readings happen on the 2nd Floor of the Theater. We are next door to The Sterret Center. Please enter at the back side entrance, closest to the musical swings. The doors generally open by 6:45 p.m. or soon thereafter. There is an elevator inside or feel free to take the stairs. The corner meeting room overlooks the musical swings. A parking lot is to the front of the Theater or at the back off of Post Road. Â
Feel free to bring a capped drink and snacks. Â Arts for Lawrence has several accessibility options for our patrons. Refund Policy
As a reminder, all class registrations and ticket sales are final. In the event of a cancellation, tickets may be exchanged for another performance date or event. If a class is canceled, refunds or exchanges will be made available to registered participants.

Parking / Finding Our Facilities
Parking for Arts for Lawrence is anywhere next to the blue stars on the map below. Amphitheater parking is also available EXCEPT during concerts and festivals. Parking is also available next to 56th Street after 6:30 PM. The parking lot next to our facility is NOT for Theater or FBCC parking.
