About the Event
Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. Featured Tawn Parent. A native and resident of Indianapolis, Tawn Parent has been a professional writer and editor for 30 years. The Wrong Place, her first collection of poetry and essays, will be published in August 2024 by Finishing Line Press. Her work has appeared in such publications as Tipton Poetry Journal, Home Planet News Online, Anti-Heroin Chic, Last Stanza Poetry Journal, Flying Island Journal, Nzuri, Gal’s Guide Anthology and Ignite Studio Anthology. She has worked for various business publications, and also served as proofreader for two books. She holds a B.A. in journalism and French from Indiana University and a master’s degree in English language acquisition from Marian University. She teaches English as a new language at a public elementary school. She is married with two children.

7:45-9 p.m. Open Mic reading
Directions: Take E. 56th Street to Post Road. Go North on Post and West on Otis. Poetry readings happen on the 2nd Floor of the Theater. We are next door to The Sterret Center. Please enter at the back side entrance, closest to the musical swings. The doors generally open by 6:45 p.m. or soon thereafter. There is an elevator inside or feel free to take the stairs. The corner meeting room overlooks the musical swings. A parking lot is to the front of the Theater or at the back off of Post Road.
Feel free to bring a capped drink and snacks. Â Arts for Lawrence has a number of accessibility options for our patrons. Refund Policy
As a reminder, all class registrations and ticket sales are final. In the event of a cancellation, tickets may be exchanged for another performance date or event. If a class is canceled, refunds or exchanges will be made available to registered participants.

Parking / Finding Our Facilities
Parking for Arts for Lawrence is anywhere next to the blue stars on the map below. Amphitheater parking is also available EXCEPT during concerts and festivals. Parking is also available next to 56th Street after 6:30 PM. The parking lot next to our facility is NOT for Theater or FBCC parking.
