Literary Arts

Poets Laureate

Since 2007, The Poets Laureate of Lawrence has held poetry reading nights as a part of Arts for Lawrence. Meetings continue to be every 4th Tuesday of the month from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm. All of these events are free and open to the public. Poets Laureate will begin meeting in AFL’s new boardroom. Find out when their next meeting is here.


Performing Arts

Theatre Productions

As part of our mission, Arts for Lawrence offers a variety of theatre productions year-round to the public at a low and affordable cost. Some of our most frequent theatre partners include Theater Unchained, Crossroads Dance Indy, and Triple Take Productions. 


Visual Arts

Gallery Shows

Arts for Lawrence offers the community the opportunity to view quality local art free of charge and offers local artists the opportunity to showcase their works. The gallery schedule rotates monthly and features topics such as Black Pride, holiday festivities, and student works. See more of what's in store in our gallery here

Visual Art Classes


Whether you are a beginner or advanced, Arts for Lawrence offers a variety of classes ranging from 2 hours to 4 weeks in the mediums of ceramic, painting, digital arts, and more. Interested in registering for a class? Click here to view the current schedule.



Children's Theatre Festival

The Children’s Theatre Festival is a free signature event with six theatre acts performed at the Theater at the Fort including mime, circus, comedy, and magic for the whole family. The festival
includes games, food trucks, face painting, and lots of activities for the kids! See when our next Children's Theatre Festival is

Juneteenth Jubilee

To uplift and celebrate the black artists and culture in our community and show support for Juneteeth, Arts for Lawrence partners with black artists, musicians, and performers alike to come participate in our free community event. All are welcome to attend and are encouraged to participate and celebrate black culture. To learn more about Juneteenth Jubilee, click here.

Fiesta Latina de Lawrence

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month, Arts for Lawrence partners with student groups from Lawrence Township schools Latino Clubs and Dreamers, as well as Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos, Mexican Dance Company for another free community event. All are welcome to attend and engage in traditional dance, crafts, games, food and more! Find out more about it here


Youth Performances

Summer Art Camp

Camp is for children ages 6-12 and runs Monday-Friday from 9 am-3 pm. Before/aftercare is available from 7:30-9 am and 3-5:30 pm for an additional cost. All children are provided lunch, or (if preferred) they may bring their own sack lunch. The cost of Summer Art Camp is $150 per week, per child. However, need-based scholarships are available. Space is limited. Please submit your registration form and payment, or scholarship application as soon as possible to reserve your child’s space!
